The cookout is on. Your inbox can wait. You’ve got an extra day to spend with the people you care about.
Enjoy it.
A holiday doesn’t erase your progress, and you don’t need a perfect routine to stay connected to your goals. A few simple habits can help you enjoy today and ease back into the week tomorrow.
Give movement a place in your day without letting it take over.
Take a walk before breakfast, fit in a short workout, or get everyone outside for a backyard game.
Choose something that fits your plans and how you feel. If you need a rest day, take one. There’s no workout required to earn your cookout plate.
Build a plate you’ll actually enjoy.
Include a protein source, add some fruit or vegetables, and leave room for your favorites. Sit down, take your time, and check in with your appetite before going back for more.
You can enjoy a burger, a side you love, and dessert without deciding the whole day is “off track.”
One meal is one meal. Let the next one be an ordinary meal, too.
Bring a water bottle outside or keep a glass nearby while you’re cooking, talking, or relaxing.
It’s a small habit that’s easy to forget when your schedule changes—especially when you’re spending more time in the heat.
Make it convenient, and keep sipping throughout the day.
Put the work notifications away for a while.
Stay at the table a little longer. Join the game. Read a few pages. Have the conversation without checking your phone halfway through.
You don’t need to fill every open hour. Leave room to enjoy the holiday you’ve been looking forward to.
Before settling in for the evening, handle a few small things:
Then let the preparation be finished. You don’t need to plan the entire week tonight.
Tuesday doesn’t need to begin with guilt, skipped meals, or an extra-hard workout.
Eat your usual breakfast. Return to your normal training plan. Take care of the next thing in front of you.
Enjoy today. Keep a few habits close. Continue tomorrow.
